HISTORY & HERITAGE PUBLIC LECTURES: 28 January 2019

The Lisvane Legacy

Prof. Peter Edge (Oxford Brookes University) & Prof. Claire de Than (Institute of Law Jersey)

The Nunnery, 6pm-7pm, Monday 28th January

In 2016 Lord Lisvane completed a review of the functioning and efficacy of the various Branches of Tynwald and the processes of scrutiny. A period of intense constitutional review, and significant constitutional change, followed. Professors Edge and de Than discuss the impact and legacy of this major review within a broader historical and comparative context, exploring how Lisvane can be seen as the latest manifestation of historic tensions in the Manx constitution, and a set of responses to challenges shared with the Channel Islands.
